To know Him, is to know His qualities and attributes. Unlock the power within His Name
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” Proverbs 18:10
Since the beginning, from Genesis to Revelation, till present times God is continuously demonstrating that He is the answer to questions and solution to problems for all. In many instances, when God came to the rescue of men, they would give Him names to commemorate His goodness. He is Jehovah-Jireh to Abraham Genesis 22:14 , to Moses Jehovah-Nissi Exodus 17:15 , Ebenezer to Samuel 1 Samuel 7:12 , and to Gideon Jehovah- Shalom.
“And the Lord said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man…. And the Lord said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die. Then Gideon built an altar there unto the Lord, and called it Jehovah–shalom …” Judges 6:16, 23-24.
In the same manner, that men gave God names that marked their encounter and/or relationship, God also reveals Himself to His people by name. In the Old Testament (OT), Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob knew Him by the name God Almighty; and Moses knew Him by Jehovah Exodus 6:2-3 . In the New Testament (NT), we come to know Him as God our Father 1 Corinthians 1:3 and Abba, Father Mark 13:36 . God proclaimed His Name(s) for relationship and intimacy, that we may know and call upon Him in our times of need.
To Moses, He said “I AM THAT I AM” Exodus 3:14 . God has not revealed His Name(s) in vain. His Name is intended for us as a source of strength, refuge, blessing, power, etc. Knowing the Names of God does not only benefit our understanding of His divine nature but also aids in our time of praise, prayer and worship. There is no situation today that we could face that believers before us have not already faced, and that God has not already given solution to.
“O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
who hast set thy glory above the heavens.” Psalm 8:1
We'll get back as soon as possible.
The Name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous runs into it and is safe."
